Sunrise Runners and Tri Club

Run: Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Cross-train: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

The best experiences and friendships are most often spontaneous which is exactly how The Sunrise Runners came together. Early morning, time-starved working men and women who love to stay in shape, run and have fun joined together courtesy of the Farmington Family YMCA. Most Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings you can find us stretching, chatting and swapping stories, political opinions and running shoe advice from our weekends.

Along with the workouts, advice and just plain interesting company, we find lots of other ways to have fun. Social gatherings, movie nights, breakfasts and recognition events make for a pretty well rounded group of athletes. Group workouts have been clinically proven to be far more effective than solo fitness effort. We’d love to share a jog with you.

Meet at the Y in the morning at 5:45AM to run with group any Mon, Wed or Fri.

Be Part of the Hoopla!

"Hula hooping" is back! The fitness world has a new workout and it's called hoopdance, or cardio hooping. No dance or hooping experience necessary! The weight and size of these hoops help beginners keep their momentum going, making it easier to learn. Join trainer Jan Henry for a Small Group covering the basics of hooping -- waist, walking, overhead hooping etc. Progress at your own pace and burn while you learn! All major muscles are used, including core muscles. Small Group training is a great value at $105 for 7 weeks, while benefitting from the close attention of a personal trainer. Two times are available: Mondays at 9am beginning May 16, and Wednesdays at 7pm beginning May 18. Register at the front desk for one or both. Hoops will be provided, though options for getting one of your own (to practice!) will be discussed. The hoop group meets in the multi-purpose room.
