Thanks for your Support for Strong Kids!

Under the leadership of Board Chairperson Scott Hankins and Staff Representative Pam Moultrup our branch was able to raise over $65,000 for our Strong Kids Scholarship Campaign. With that money we are able to subsidize memberships, send kids to camp, teach kids to swim and save people’s lives by helping them be part of the healthy community at the YMCA.

Four teams competed to be top fundraisers. The Front Runners took that honor by raising over $8,000 as a team. The Front Runners include the Connection Desk and Membership staff and were captained by Mary Washington and Jon Otzman. Individual honors went to Melanie Sevald who raised nearly $4,000. Other notable efforts were Mary Washington and Patty Dick who each raised $2,340 and Sandy Gossett and Chinzara Baltimore who were the top fundraisers for their teams.

Our Board of Director raised $43,658 with the help of John Sullivan who raised $12,500 in major gifts, Reggie Lee and Scott Hankins who organized the Hamilton Room raised $1,700 and Special Events Committee: Bob Jurva, Sherry Jurva, Stephanie Jurva, Donna Bishop, Katie McKay as well as many, many more contributed to the Board’s total dollars raised.

Thanks go to EVERYONE who supported this campaign in any way by giving us change and donating dollars, by donating books and purchasing them too, sharing recipes and buying our cookbook, eating at Lily's and buying Oberweis ice cream...all of these things helped us raise money for our 2010 Strong Kids Scholarship Campaign! Thanks to EVERYONE who supported Strong Kids!
