This program provides the opportunity to learn fundamental basketball skills. The game is modified to accommodate special goal heights and ball sizes. Along with ball handling and shooting skills, children are ready to work on teamwork. Early in the program, skill work with dribbling and passing is stressed. YMCA Flag Football introduces kids to football emphasizing fun. They will learn how to play, picking up skills such as passing, catching, blocking and flag-grabbing.

Preschool Gymnastics classes are taught developmentally appropriate gymnastics skills with the direct aim of enhancing social skills, gross motor skills, and coordination. Class begins with a fun warm up of aerobics, stretches, body positions, and listening skills. Our preschool program is a spectacular way for your child to learn basic locomotive movements and gymnastics while building a healthy self esteem. Basic panel and shaped mats, floor balance beams and tummy roll bars are some of the props used to facilitate the teaching.

Since younger children are not ready to pitch, coaches keep the game fun. Coach Pitch is a great next-step for graduating T-Ball players.
Machine pitch leagues gives players consistent pitches to become better baseball players. This league provides more action and opportunities for the development of baseball fundamentals.
At this age, kids are ready to pitch for themselves. Coaches continue to teach the fundamentals of baseball to keep it fun.

Children learn basic basketball skills using age-appropriate equipment (i.e. smaller balls and baskets for preschool ages). They do fun drills and games that teach ball handling and shooting skills. The YMCA provides developmental basketball program for 9-14 year olds that prepares them to participate successfully and enjoy the sport. Leagues offer structured playing time outside of school leagues, focus on skill and team development. Programs are available for all skill levels and emphasize a positive competitive environment.

Our dodgeball is truly safe, as our specially designed foam balls are designed for speed and accuracy, while minimizing any risk of injury. The YMCA recreational gymnastics program is modeled after USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic program. It is designed to provide non-competitive, achievement oriented progression of basic skills.
Classes for AGES 6 & UP:
This class is designed to introduce your child to basic skills, stretching and conditioning in a fun and safe atmosphere. Instructors will use drills and progressions to help your child achieve skills on vault, bars, beam and floor.

This class is a continuation of our Level 1 Intro. class and will focus on perfecting the USA GYMNASTICS Level 1 skills and preparing gymnasts for Level 2.

Gymnasts will perfect the USA GYMNASTICS Level 3 skills and will begin working the skills necessary to prepare them for team or pre-team.

Through a series of training classes, participants are able to progressively develop their skills for high school and tournament competition.
An introductory series of 1 hour classes that will provide instruction on forehands, backhands, serves, some net play, basic positioning and score keeping.
These 2 hour classes are for students who have completed Jr. Excellence Prep or an equivalent of the Prep class. Through these 7 progressive levels of training, players will further develop all areas of their game. These classes will help students prepare for high school and tournament competition. This class is for the beginner player with no formal training of tennis.
It is a continuation of Beginner I with an emphasis on stroke production, footwork consistency and introduction to net play.
This class is designated to work on all aspects of the intermediate game.
A high powered workout through drills and point play covering tactics and strategies.
This class is an advanced level of drill and point play situations.
This tennis lesson is set up with 1 pro and 4 players that are of similar skill level. The pro will run drills that will improve different aspects of your tennis game. This lesson is 1 hour long, for 7 weeks. The time and day is set up with the professional ahead of time, please contact the Livonia YMCA's tennis office for more information.
This is 1 hour of drills and/or use of ball machine with Pro’s supervision. You must contact the Livonia YMCA's front desk ahead of time to register. Sundays 1-2pm, all levels of players.
These practices are 1 hour of drills with a tennis professional, you are encouraged to stay after for 1 hour of play. During these drills the pro will focus on forehands, backhands, serving, volleying skills, and many other aspects of the game. There is no need to register ahead of time, just come down to the court and pay. These drills are Tuesdays 12 PM-2PM and/or, Thursdays 11AM-1PM, all levels of players.
The Livonia YMCA offers many different adult tennis leagues; you must be evaluated prior to joining. Contact the tennis office to set up a free evaluation. Our leagues run from September through May, you may join at anytime if there is an opening available. A tennis or full facility membership is required to join and/or sub on our leagues. Prices, days, and league options vary so please contact the Livonia YMCA's tennis office with any questions.
