PreSchool Child Care at Lakeshore Family YMCA

The Lakeshore Family YMCA offers quality care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old and is conveniently located behind St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. Childcare is available Monday through Friday from 6:30am until 6:00pm. Our well trained, caring staff offer a daily program with developmentally appropriate learning experiences in a play-based setting.

Children participating in the childcare program must have a YMCA program facility membership. Two weeks tuition and a non refundable registration fee are due prior to enrollment. We accept Department of Human Service payments. Financial assistance and sibling discounts are available to those who qualify.

Infant Development

Our program for 6-week to 14-month olds is designed to provide a nurturing, interactive environment that will help build language and cognitive skills. Highlights include:

  • Trained teachers that engage infants while providing the proper care and love needed at this age
  • Small group sizes that exceed State of Michigan licensing rules
  • Classroom division that allows advancement according to each individual child’s development

Toddler Development

Our 14 to 30-months program helps prepare your child for the skills needed to socialize and focus in a preschool classroom Program highlights include:

  • Activities that build your toddler’s self esteem and independence
  • Art, music, gross and fine motor experiences
  • Classroom division that allows advancement according to each individual child’s development

Preschool Development

Our program for 2 ½ through 5-year-olds offers the skills and knowledge your child needs to successfully begin kindergarten. We have two levels of preschool so children can progress as they develop. Our “Play to Learn” curriculum encompasses all areas of development including:

  • Pre-reading and language skills
  • Journals and alphabet books are just some of the writing experiences that are offered
  • Simple experiments, sorting, and patterning introduce math and science
  • Art experiences that promote self expression and creativity
  • Motor activities including structured gym time
  • Social experiences that build relationships and problem solving abilities
  • Developmental objectives used as a basis for individual portfolio development
