YMCA Camp

With both Camp Ohiyesa and Nissokone, it is our vision to prepare your child to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow through programs that develop the individual, strengthen the family, and build safe, caring communities. A quality summer camping experience can provide one of the most exciting and precious memories in a your child's life!

About YMCA Camp

YMCA Camp offers kids an opportunity to have fun and learn new skills. Camp is the place where campers feel good about themselves and others through counselor-guided activities. Camping has been a long-established YMCA program designed to get kids outside and active, where they can learn while having fun.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available to assure that all children are offered the chance to go to YMCA camp. This program is funded by the generous donations of YMCA members and supporters of YMCA Camp programs who share the belief that YMCA camp can be a vital positive experience for kids.

For details about YMCA Financial Assistance and to download the application, please view the Camp Registration Page under Sign Up for Camp.

About Camp Safety

The safety of each child is our primary concern. All aspects of camp are focused on providing your child with an environment where they are free to grow, learn and laugh. All activities follow strict guidelines that promote camper safety, and camp leaders are trained to promote the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of each camper.

In addition to our carefully established safety guidelines, we ask all campers to provide completed health and safety forms which enable our staff to monitor the health of campers and mitigate against unnecessary health risks.

Our Camps (Nissokone and Ohiyesa) are inspected and licensed by the State of Michigan and are also accredited by the American Camp Association. Some of our health and safety measures include:

  • A full-time Health Officer or Nurse is on site at all times
  • A Camp Doctor is just a phone call away
  • We serve well planned and nutritious meals that kids actually like to eat
  • We meet over 300 standards of ACA, the American Camp Association
  • Licensed by the State of Michigan
  • All camp staff are certified in CPR and Red Cross first aid
  • We carefully screen staff and conduct background checks
  • 7 days of staff training
  • Close supervision by professional
