YMCA Camp Phoenix

YMCA Camp Phoenix is a uniquely designed summer day camp whose purpose is to promote great memories for kids within the academic environment. Camp Phoenix strengthens the bond between families and learning through individualized attention, exciting hands-on, theme-based activities which embrace all styles of learning, and by providing positive life experiences in a non-exclusive, caring, multicultural atmosphere within existing schools.

At Camp Phoenix, we blend academics with traditional summer camp highlighted by lots of special events such as swimming, theater, petting zoo, ice cream truck, field trips to local museums, etc. For 6 weeks at this unique YMCA camp, we promote great memories within the academic environment.

Camp Facts

How is Camp Phoenix different from other day camps?

It is our goal for campers to have a fun summer where they can learn and come to enjoy school. Our program incorporates hands-on, theme-based activities which embrace all styles of learning so that every child will have a positive experience. We want to present every family with a new, positive outlook on learning and the educational system. Camp Phoenix empowers parents to better communicate with schools, teachers and students and other parents.

Camp Phoenix is set up to meet each student's particular life needs. Using a social work model embracing the “Family Systems Perspective,” Camp Phoenix partners with schools, universities, organizations and businesses to build strong community relations and support networks for our camp, its’ staff, campers and families. We believe families are empowered by a strong support network, good relationships and positive communication.

What ages attend Camp Phoenix?

Camp Phoenix is for children and teens ages 3 to 18 years old.

How can I register my child for Camp Phoenix?

All participants are registered based on teacher referrals. This helps us provide a focused camp experience designed to meet the needs of individual campers based on family dynamics, environmental, medical and academic circumstances.

What is the camper to staff ratio?

Though our camp is growing, we maintain a 10:1 camper to staff ratio to maximize safety and ensure that every child receives personalized attention.

How are Camp Phoenix staff selected and trained?

Our camp staff is chosen carefully for maturity, understanding of children and position, work experience, and over all personal integrity. All members are either certified teachers or have more than 90 credits toward their degree and have undergone police background checks, drug screening & completed the YMCA Child Safe training.

We also partner with several local, accredited educational institutions to have teaching interns working their field placements. These teachers in training are supervised by our head teachers as well as their university counterparts. This collaboration brings lots of energy and new ideas into our camp program.
